Building Health Together: FIMRC Costa Rica and Universidad San Judas Tadeo Join Forces

At FIMRC Costa Rica, we believe that meaningful partnerships have the power to transform lives. This vision has taken a new step forward with the recent collaboration with the Universidad San Judas Tadeo (USJT), a partnership designed to strengthen community health and expand access to quality medical care in Alajuelita, Costa Rica.

Two Doctors, One Mission

As part of this agreement, Dr. Carolina López and Dr. Eduardo Vilaplana, physicians and professors from USJT’s Faculty of Medical Sciences, have officially joined the FIMRC Costa Rica team. Their expertise brings a powerful combination of academic excellence and community care–both essential to improving health outcomes for the families we serve.

With their support, our clinic can now: 

• Assist more patients through consistent, compassionate care
• Provide closer medical follow-up for chronic conditions
• Strengthen our public health programs in underserved neighborhoods
• Offer even more hands-on learning experiences for students and volunteers interested in global health and medicine

Empowering Students and Volunteers

For pre-medical and health-focused students from the U.S. and around the world, this collaboration means deeper exposure to real-world healthcare delivery. Volunteers will have the chance to: 

• Learn directly from Costa Rican physicians and medical faculty
• Observe patient consultations and community health campaigns
• Participate in outreach programs addressing preventive medicine and health education

These experiences not only expand clinical understanding but also cultivate cultural humility–both essential qualities for future healthcare professionals.
