August 21, 2019

PHILADELPHIA – The Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) is pleased to announce it has been granted consultative status by the United Nations Economic Social Council (ECOSOC). This consultative status with the UN positions FIMRC as an emerging leader in global health and will further advance its mission to improve access to healthcare for children and families worldwide through sustainable, ethical community-based programs.

This consultative status confirms that FIMRC’s activities are relevant to the work of the United Nations and ECOSOC’s efforts to encourage universal respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, facilitate international cultural and educational cooperation, identify solutions to international economic, social and health problems, and promote higher standards of living, full employment, economic, and social progress.

With special consultative status, FIMRC has the right to designate official representatives to the UN Headquarters in New York, NY and UN offices in Geneva, Switzerland and Vienna, Austria. FIMRC representatives can register for and participate in events, conferences, and activities of the UN as well as submit written statements or make oral presentations relevant to FIMRC’s work. NGOs with consultative status also have the privilege to be informed about the provisional agenda of ECOSOC and its subsidiary bodies.

Founded in 2002, FIMRC is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of families in the developing world through the implementation of innovative and self-sustainable health improvement programs. Through its network of outpatient clinics and partnerships, FIMRC asserts a multidimensional strategy that includes clinical services, extensive community outreach efforts, and health education programs.
