Project Alajuelita’s program helps provide basic vision exams and glasses for members of the community that can not regularly afford these services.
Vision care in Costa Rica is an expensive service that low income families cannot easily access. Many times, their need goes unaddressed for years because they do not have the money to consult a specialist. Project Alajuelita staff have been able to partner with another organization specializing in reduced-cost exams. The visits cost $8 per person to cover the general examination, and an additional $60 per person for basic eyeglasses. FIMRC seeks to provide 100 exams per year as well as supply 30 basic eyeglasses.
