FIMRC : Starting a Chapter
Initiating a FIMRC chapter is an exciting process that requires commitment and teamwork. Realize before you get started that initiating a chapter will necessitate involvement of your friends or other individuals on campus. Also, note that there are certain provisions you must follow in order to receive and maintain official recognition from the FIMRC national office.
Below are the steps generally required to start a chapter. If you are interested in initiating a chapter at your school, please complete the inquiry form to determine if there is already a chapter at your school. We will reply to your request and guide you through the process of recruiting other students to help found a FIMRC chapter if one is not already in existence.
Steps needed to start a campus chapter:
- Organize a four or five person executive board
- President, VP (one or two), Secretary, Treasurer
- If you would like to modify this format to include additional positions, please feel free to do so. For record keeping purposes, we would like to have the Personal Information Form filled out for each officer in your chapter. This should be done each year as new officers are elected.
- Official recognition as a student group from your university
- This entails contacting your student activities center or other such office on campus to file the paperwork necessary to gain recognition. Upon completion, we will contact your school to provide additional information they will need regarding our organization and its initiatives.
- You will likely need a constitution of some sort. We recommend you view our Sample Constitution.
- Have each member of your executive board sign and return the Chaptership Terms Form
- The Chaptership Terms Form (CTF) should be signed by each member of your board and mailed to:
FIMRC
P.O. Box 1132
Philadelphia, PA 19105-1132
- Speak with a representative from FIMRC Headquarters. Once you submit a Personal Information Form we will contact you within 24 hours to discuss the details about setting up a chapter. We look forward to helping you through this process!
- At the end of each fiscal semester, each chapter must send an updated Semester Report Form.
- To understand the rules and regulations of chaptership, please review the Chaptership Handbook.
