2010-2011 highlights:

  • Participated in organization fairs run by the College of Natural Sciences
  • Participated in two organization fairs, one run by the College of Natural Sciences as part of Natural Sciences Week and the other organized as a fundraiser for the UT Student Emergency Fund.
  • Sold sno-cones to fundraise for a bigger fundraiser, an “Adopt-A-Project”
  • Held a one-night fundraiser at a frozen yogurt
  • Held a restaurant fundraiser at a sandwich shop
  • Partnered with a larger pre-medical organization to co-host the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School when its representatives came to UT-Austin
  • Organized several community service events including volunteering with a local food bank, taught children about DNA using candy at the Austin Children’s Museum, and held a hygiene drive to benefit Caritas of Austin
  • Participated in the College of Natural Sciences’ lunches with the Dean to keep informed of issues occurring on campus that could affect our organizations.
  • Held an information session about the Global Health Volunteer Program
  •  Participated in International Education Week by setting up a trivia quest in a high-traffic area of campus. we set up a poster board with information about FIMRC’s Bumwalukani clinic and had participants fill out a 5-question survey about information on the poster board. Participants received prizes such as shirts, pre-professional books, and magnetic clips.

Chapter Accomplishments:

  • Raised $300 toward construction of Community Health Pavilion in Uganda.
  • Held three general body meetings per semester.
  • Raised funds by holding a cupcake walk on campus.
  • Sent chapter members to volunteer at Dell Children’s Medical Center, collaborating with an on-campus chamber ensemble to provide music and activities for children.
