Chapter Accomplishments
- Quadrupled their membership in their first semester through social networking
- Sent groups of chapter members to volunteer at a local children’s hospital, where they interacted with patients and helped decorate the hospital for the holidays
- Traveled to local elementary, middle, and high schools to collect donations for FIMRC’s clinic in Nicaragua
- Organized team of chapter members for a campus-wide ice skating competition, winning $200 for a local cancer charity
- Participated in a dance marathon to raise money for the University of Kentucky Pediatric Oncology Clinic
- Sent several chapter members to volunteer at the Refuge Medical Clinic in Lexington, KY, a free clinic serving the uninsured. Activities included documenting medical histories, assisting with the processing of prescriptions, performing clerical duties, and assisting the physicians in taking vital statistics
- Held a “hat day” at a local elementary school in which children were allowed to wear hats to school in exchange for a small donation to FIMRC
- Held an assembly at a local elementary school to raise awareness of poverty and health challenges in Appalachia and around the world
