FIMRC : Projects

Project Alajuelita, Costa Rica

Since the Fall of 2005, the Alajuelita clinic has been providing health services and health education workshops to children in need.  A full time clinic staff and numerous volunteers make the Alajuelita clinic a reliable resource for the residents of Alajuelita and surrounding areas on a daily basis.

Project Alto Vera, Paraguay

Besides giving underprivileged children access to modern medical care, FIMRC is also committed to improving children’s lives through education.  Global health is best improved by local community members participating in health education programs.  Through Project Alto Vera, FIMRC is proud to recognize the efforts of community members who go above and beyond in this underserved community.

Project Bumwalukani, Uganda

Through a partnership with the Arlington Academy of Hope, this project provides direct healthcare to a community of approximately 10,000 individuals in rural Uganda.  The clinic and adjoining primary school are situated on a mountainside about 30 miles from Mbale, Uganda.
Project Las Delicias, El Salvador

Just outside of San Salvador, El Salvador is Las Delicias, an underserved community of approximately 5000 people.  With clinic completion expected in September 2007, FIMRC hopes to provide much needed medical care to the children of Las Delicias.

Project Peru

Peru’s medical facilities are critically understaffed and underfunded, and many medical establishments struggle to provide even basic medical care to the people they serve. The hospitals are overburdened with patients, many of whom have illnesses preventable by basic hygiene and healthy living practices. The doctors in these hospitals lack the time and resources to teach each patient how to live a healthy life. The central goal of FIMRC’s Peru program is to provide staff support to Peru’s Ministry of Health both in medical facilities and within the community.

Project Pignon, Haiti

Project Pignon, Haiti

Located in a small town in the north Central Plateau of Haiti, Hộpital Bienfaisaince currently provides health care services to over 45,000 patients annually. In a partnership with Hộpital Bienfaisaince, FIMRC is in the process of revamping the pediatric ward as well as launching a global health volunteer program at the hospital and within the surrounding communities.

Project Kodaikanal, India

Through a partnership with The Betsy Elizabeth Trust, Project Kodaikanal provides health education and primary healthcare to 110 children living in the poverty-stricken Dalit community of Kodaikanal, a town located in the hills of Tamil Nadu, India

Project Monte Nuevo, Ecuador

Monte Nuevo, population 500, is located seven hours west of Quito, Ecuador and approximately four hours from the closest medical facility.  FIMRC aims to help construct a community center and remodel a medical facility with partner organization, Ayuda Directa USA (ADUSA).
Project Health Education

Health starts with the individual. Unfortunately, many children and adults worldwide do not have access to health education or may not receive accurate information regarding health. FIMRC is working toward enabling kids to help themselves by providing accurate, easy to understand information regarding basic health & hygiene to children in our project sites.

Project Smiles for All

Oral health can significantly impact the overall health of children. Toothbrushes, the basic tool for healthy teeth and gums, are luxury items for children in impoverished communities where some families live in houses built only from cardboard. FIMRC recognizes the need to focus on oral health as part of our larger objective – healthy children worldwide - and commits to collecting and distributing one million toothbrushes.
