The Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children offers the opportunity to work as a FIMRC Ambassador either in Washington, DC, Philadelphia, PA or from several satellite locations around the world. (Certain internships are also available where work can be conducted from your home.) The Ambassador Program is highly competitive and offers are only extended to those individuals who show the greatest level of enthusiasm and creativity. The individuals selected will have the opportunity to work in all areas of the Foundation with emphasis placed on the applicant's skill level and interests. Some of the past projects our interns have worked on include:
- Planning and participation in FIMRC's numerous projects in countries such as Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Indonesia, and Uganda.
- Learning about international medicine, not-for-profit organizations and public health initiatives.
- Working closely with board members, and traveling on occasion to meet with embassy officials and leadership of partner foundations.
- Learning about applying for grants and preparing grant proposals.
- Researching new public health initiatives
- Expanding an already extensive database of college and university contacts for FIMRC's chaptership initiatives.
- Working with current chapters to help establish and develop their chaptership.
- Helping to coordinate runners for the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon.
"Interning with FIMRC has given me a realistic and hopeful view of the world as there is a pressing need to provide the world's children with basic medical care so that they can realize their potential. Working with a diverse, energetic, optimistic and yet close-knit group on a real grass-roots level has made me realize that even the smallest deed can have a major impact in the lives of the children we are dedicated to reaching. Seeing their smiles and their adorable faces is reward enough." - Sarah M. (2005)
